AI Tools and Workflows — Reference at the Point of Need

Concepts when you need them

A source is material you can inspect. A citation identifies where a claim comes from; it does not make the claim true. Research distinguishes observation, author claim, inference and unresolved question. An interested source may be useful while still needing qualification. Persistence supports continued work, but you must keep important progress explicit and check what the tool retained.

A worked distinction

Example: a vendor reports a large productivity gain without describing the sample. Attribute it as the vendor’s claim, inspect the method if available, and avoid presenting it as an established result. A briefing can say what evidence would change its recommendation.

Return to the work

Use the concept to make a concrete check or decision in your current artifact. If it does not help, return to the task rather than collecting terminology. Ask your assistant to explain an unfamiliar term using your example, then check the explanation against the source or observed behavior.
